In the 12th century the citizens were requested to adopt a familiy name. That’s when the name Cukschwert appeard one day on a grave slab in the courtyard of the Monastry of Raitenhaslach. The earliest documents are of the Archdiocese of Salzburg, where the Zuckschwerdts rose to affluence as Ministy Officials. They were also found in Vienna during the 13th and in the Black Forest in the 14th century.
